Default Tune question for 5EAT

Hello everyone at Precision. Name is Keith. Been in touch with you guys the past few months via emails about recommendations and prices. I am still gathering parts, although not as many left, then will be coming to you guys for install + tune.

Question, I drive an 09 5EAT. How is tuning the 5EAT different from a manual transmission? From what I have been reading on the legacygt.com forums is that the 5EAT is kind of finiky when it comes to adding torque, and this frying the clutchpacks.

I have the IPT valve body modification, and plan on doing a transmission cooler also at the time of all this. Can Cleo limit my target boost as to limit the amount of torque that puts down? I am looking for something fun and faster than my STG1 setup now (which put down 218whp), but also want to keep reliability as this is my daily driver for many years to come.

You guys have been great at answering my questions thus far, and cannot wait to come down in the coming months.

Sorry for the delay. The biggest problem with automatics is the transmission itself. We have stopped tuning automatics for the simpole fact that customers usually end up with transmission issues niot long after increasing power. If you want to increase power, I would suggest having the transmission built bya reputable transmission builder such as IPT. It has been our experience that the Subaru automatics do not do well transfering large amounts of power. Them IPT valve body modifaction helps, but as you said above, the clutch packs are not well suited to high horsepower. PM me you number and I will give you a call to discuss it further.
